At such a young age, engaging in such actions is self-destructive. It's truly a pity, isn't it?
The fact has repeatedly proven that people with similar labels can always find themselves in the vast sea of humanity.
I. THE PSYCHOLOGICAL PROCESS: The "Double-Dip" Execution The "Safety Net" Premeditation: Ben entered the collaboration with a dual-exit strategy. His focus on the "30-day return window" from the beginning proves that he was not committed to the product, but to a risk-free financial gain. He treated the company’s reimbursement as a "loan" and the Platform return policy as his "profit multiplier." The Exploitation of a Minor Delay: The second payment was made on Oct 1st—only a short time after the review. At this point, the transaction was commercially settled. However, Ben did not close the loop. Instead, he waited until late October (nearly 3 or 4 weeks after being fully paid) to initiate the Platform return. This proves his intent was not "self-protection" (as the money was already in his pocket) but deliberate double-dipping. The "Silent Operator" Strategy: Ben’s psychological calculation was that the company would not monitor historical Platform order statuses once the PayPal transaction was marked "completed." He waited for the "silent period" to perform the return, hoping to vanish with both the company’s money and the Platform refund. The Exposure Shock and Shame-Rage Spiral: When the company detected the return, Ben experienced the "Shock of being Caught." His response followed the DARVO (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender) model. Because he could not logically defend keeping 200% of the funds, he converted his shame into "righteous indignation," attacking the company's "complex process" to distract from his own theft. II. LOGICAL FALLACIES: The Mechanics of Self-Justification The Fallacy of "Retrospective Victimization": Ben argued: "I returned the mic because I didn't hear from you in time." Critique: This is a Logical Lie. He received the payment on Oct 1st. He returned the item after Oct 1st. Once the payment is received, the "risk" of non-payment is zero. Therefore, the return was not a reaction to a delay, but a proactive act of fraud. The "Labor-as-Ransom" Fallacy: He claimed his "time and effort" justified keeping the money. Critique: Business contracts define compensation. One cannot unilaterally decide to keep "extra" money (the Platform refund) as a bonus for "effort" that was already paid for in the original agreement. Contradictory Public Narrative: In public comments, he claimed he "refunded the money" or "wasn't paid." Critique: This is a Factual Paradox. His private emails show him fighting to keep the money. He intentionally fabricated a public reality that is the exact opposite of his private actions to gain social sympathy. III. PERSONALITY DEFECTS: Opportunism and Manipulative Victimhood Machiavellian Opportunism: Ben demonstrates a high capacity for "cold calculation." He was able to pivot from "I'll definitely be recommending this mic" (Oct 2) to "This company is a scam" (Online Comments) the moment his financial fraud was discovered. He views people and companies solely as tools for profit. Moral Inversion (Pathological Lying): The most striking defect is his ability to beautify his misconduct. By calling the company a "scammer" while he is the only one holding double the money, he exhibits a narcissistic trait where "the truth is whatever serves my current interest." Reputational Blackmail: His threat to "blacklist" the company and "ensure others know you are not reputable" is a classic bullying tactic. He uses his status as a "creator" to silence the company, banking on the hope that the business will choose "peace" over "truth." Zero Remorse: Even when caught red-handed, Ben did not offer a full refund. He offered a "partial" settlement ($100) and then withdrew it, showing that his primary drive is greed, even when faced with the evidence of his own dishonesty. Conclusion Ben Carano is a Predatory Collaborator. He utilized the delay in payment as a "moral excuse" to execute a plan he likely had since the beginning: to be paid by the company and then refunded by the platform. He is not a victim of a complex system; he is a manipulator who weaponizes public platforms to hide his private financial crimes.

Regards, Ben Carano to ottalie (2023-10-17 23:48) Hello, I understand that it was intended for me to keep the mic, but when I waited over a week for you to get back to me about processing the second payment half and didn't hear anything I began to lose trust and was ready to return the mic. You did end up paying me, after I had already processed the return, but I hope you can see where I was coming from not sure if you would fulfil your end of the bargain. That said... I have worked hard to make the video as well as a lovely review for you, so it feels fair to at least keep something. Would it make up for it if I refunded $100? -Ben Ben Carano to ottalie (2023-10-18 01:22) After Giving this some thought, I do not think it's fair for me to refund you or go through the hassle of reordering another mic and paying taxes and all over again. As it stands I am willing to keep my video up as well as my review, and you can consider the payment put toward my time and effort. Because of the fact that I didn't hear back from you within the return window to ensure I could trust that I would receive payment, I see there isn't much I can do at this point. The point of ordering through Platform is so that I can be reassured that they will back me up or accept a return in case of something not going as planned. I worked hard to get the review and video done within my 30 day return period in case I didn't get paid so that I could return the mic if need be, and I didn't hear back from you in time. If you choose to put me on your list and blacklist me in an unnecessary way, I will be taking down my review and letting people know not to work with you in the future. I have since been approached with other affiliate offers and no other company has made the process so complex, questionable, or difficult to deal with. Most just interested in getting reviews or promotions for their products are happy to simply send me the product directly without jumping through hoops. I have learned a lot from this experience. I gave you every reason to trust me with my effort and timeliness, while you breached my trust by not being responsive. You told me the terms up front, and I was willing to work with them. What I didn't know was that you would not be timely in your end of the process. I did not need another microphone, but was appreciative of the offer and opportunity to try something new. However, I was not going to be stuck with something I didn't need with the risk of not receiving the promised money for my review. If you want to send back the microphone to me directly, upon receipt I will send to you the amount you paid me, and leave my review up. I will also leave my review up if you wish to do nothing. However, if you choose to blacklist my name, I will absolutely ensure that others know this is not a reputable or reliable affiliate situation. I will let you decide. Thank you for understanding, -Ben ottalie to Ben Carano (2023-10-19 16:18) We are simply upholding the most fundamental values. We do things according to the terms. You violate the terms, the processing will go to it's way. If it go to the scammer list, that is not something we want. We do things according to the terms. good luck. Ben Carano’s Online Comments (extract) I was just scammed by them, not being payed after order the mic, so I did my video and paid review, but because I wasn't payed in time I returned the mic, and they are now attacking me in the most unkind and unprofessional way! I strongly advise that no creator ever work with them again! Thanks for getting the word out! I got scammed by them, having ordered the mic and not getting payed, so I returned it and then they decided to pay me after the return. I refunded the money, but they decided to then leak my information on their website and pose me as the scammer for not keeping the mic. Definitely wouldn't recommend working with them.
